Wilma Smith,

President

Wilma Smith.  A member of the First Baptist Church of District Heights, MD and a resident since 1975.  She is active in the community.  In 2010-2011, she coordinated the Health Fair for the City of District Heights.  Wilma was President of the AARP in 2008-2009 and has now returned to serve that office again.

Ernie M. Sims
Vice President

Ernie M. Sims.  A residence of District Heights, MD for the past 24 years.  Was born and partly raised in Saint Mary’s, GA.  Retired, November 2005 after 35 years of federal service.  I am a member of the Sassy Seniors of Suitland Community Center and the Senior Bible Study at District Hgts Baptist Church.  I am a member of Deliverance Church of Christ in Capitol Hgts., MD and have served on various ministries as usher board, newsletter, choir, small group and convalescent home.

A mother of one son, Christopher Sr and a grandmother of Christopher Jr.., Kristian, TyShaun, and Christopher Jayon (CJ).


Joyce U. Haywood

Joyce Unlanda Carr-Haywoood.  I was born in Jack sonville, NC .  In June 1973. graduated from Central Senior High School , Seat Pleasant, MD  In July 1973.  I attended the Opportunities Industralization Center and graduated with a certification as a Stenographer.  I began working in 1974 with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and retired from that agency in 2010 after 35 years of dedicated service.

Blessed by the best and serves  as Deaconess and Gospel singer at the Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastors Daniel and Sabrina Mangrum, Upper Marlboro, MD.  Favorite saying  “With Jehovah God all things are possible".

I am married to my junior high school sweet heart.  No children.

  

Mattie Hawkins.   I am the Assistant Recording Secretary for AARP Chapter 939.  I was elected to serve a one year term.  I was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, and reared in Mayfield, Kentucky.  I received a Certificate in Business Administration from West Kentucky Vocational Technical School in Paducah, Kentucky.  
After moving to Washington, DC, I began my career with the Federal Government and retired after 32 years of  service.  After retirement, I went back to work with the Government as a Contractor and worked an additional 10 years before retiring for a second time.
I am an active member of the Breath of Life Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland.  I am involved 
in different ministries in the Church. 
 
 

  

Joyce Dunmore

Joyce Dunmore.  I was born in Virginia . Upon graduating From high school, I moved to New York City .Later, I moved to Washington, D.C. to accept a position with

the Census Bureau.  I retired from the federal government after 32 years as a Computer Programmer.

A member of the National Church of God, for the past 28 years and received Ministerial Intern License in 1991.  She was a member of the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop Mass Choir and a member of the DC Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop.  I have travelled to Israel ,  twice, Ammon, Jordan and Egypt

I am the mother of 2 sons and one daughter, and four grandsons.

Joyce F. Carter.  I was born in Brownsville, TN, and reared in Mayfield, KY.  I moved to Washington, DC, in August 1963 after graduating from business school in Paducah, KY, to begin my career in the Federal Government.  I retired in January 2004 after working 41 years.  I have one daughter, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.  I enjoy spending time with my family.
My interests are walking, reading, going to the movies and meeting new people. I consider it an honor to serve as Assistant Treasurer for Chapter 939 for 2012.

Rev. Geneva Jones,

Rev. Geneva Jones.  Hello everyone! I was born and reared in West Virginia, migrating to the Washington, DC area in 1963.  I retired from the Washington Hospital Center after serving 24 years in the Office of Medical Affairs, specifically as Executive Secretary to the President of the Medical Staff and Coordinator of Medical Staff Services.  Following my retirement, I worked as Administrative Director for the Collective Banking Group, a non-profit group in Prince George's County made up of pastors and churches in the Metropolitan Area.  I am an ordained minister in my 44th year of preaching, a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Capitol Heights, MD, and a charter member of Seek His Face Ministries, Inc.  My hobbies include collecting utterflies, entertaining and cooking. 

 Rev Jones continues her community outreach as a volunteer Ombushman for the Prince Georges County Long Term Care Program  (advocate for nnursing home residents) and the Welcome Home Program (assising incarcerated persons as they prepare to re-enter the community}.  She was appointed Chaplain for chapter 939 in 2012.
